Rising Above Adversity: Lessons from “SuperPower: The Ability to Fly or to Become Invisible”
Michele Locke's journey shows the power of resilience, the importance of adaptability, and the incredible heights…
Michele Locke loved sports from a young age, following her mother’s success in football. She was great at it — until a severe injury broke both her legs, shattering her dreams and leaving her with the news that she might never play football again.
Her recovery was long, painful, and full of doubt. But her resilience, and her mother’s support, pushed her to find new opportunities. During rehabilitation, Michele discovered a talent for track and field — long jump and triple jump — and earned a full scholarship to Loughborough University.
She promised her mother gold at the Olympics. Even when her mother fell into an accident and a coma, Michele’s determination never wavered. At the Games, mid-jump, she discovered her own SuperPower: flight.
Her story is the series’ purest lesson: when one door closes, another opens. Embrace change, stay resilient, lean on the people who hold you up — and the heights you reach will be your own.
"Adversity is the wind. Rise anyway."
