The SuperPower Blueprint: One Series, Five Doorways

Position Book 1 as the door into a wider story world — the interactive structure, the author journey, and the vision behind the SuperPower series.

What stands out to me is that SuperPower is not simply a superhero story built around flight and invisibility. Book 1 gives us a very strong entry point — the $3.5 billion international art heist across New York, London, and Paris — but the larger project is a continuing story world, with different forms of adventure, interactive elements, research, strategy, art, and pop-culture references.

That changes how I would approach the work. I would not build the campaign around selling one book and then stopping there. I would treat Book 1 as the entry point into the wider SuperPower series and establish the identity of the project in a way that can continue developing as the later books come forward.

The progression you shared is especially useful: the art heist in Book 1, the next generation in Book 2, the Jules Verne-inspired EV race across Europe in Book 3, the modern interpretation of the twelve tasks of Hercules in Book 4, and the two books currently in progress. Each gives us a different editorial doorway while still belonging to the same larger SuperPower world.

I also understand the importance of your professional background. You are not approaching this as a first-time author trying to understand how publishing works. Your previous publishing relationships, your experience with substantial game-design books, your background in computer game design, and the way that experience influenced the interactive structure of SuperPower are all relevant to how the project should be presented.

For that reason, I would not approach you with a generic author-marketing formula. I would approach the project with the understanding that you already know the publishing and marketing environment and that what you need from me is a thoughtful, specific approach to the particular project you have built.

The interactive component is one example. From everything you explained, the games and references are not simply something added to the books for novelty. You deliberately designed them so that the narrative remains understandable even when a reader chooses not to participate. That creates an interesting point of distinction between conventional fiction and the interactive entertainment background from which you came.

Your author journey is another important part of the picture. The circumstances in which you came to write SuperPower — losing your job, going through significant personal and financial difficulties, living in a New York City shelter, and developing the books through speech-to-text while continuing to build the project — are extraordinary. I don’t see that as something to turn into a marketing gimmick. I see it as part of the story behind the creation of the series and something that can help readers understand the person and experience behind the work.

"SuperPower is not simply a superhero story built around flight and invisibility."
